Undergraduate Study
Admission Requirements
Applicants may enroll in the undergraduate study program Dance, Choreography if they:
- have completed the general or vocational matura,
- have completed any 4-year secondary school program before June 1, 1995,
- successfully pass the audition.
Proof of Completed Education
Proof of completed secondary education does not need to be submitted at the time of application, except if the candidate completed secondary education with a final examination or abroad.
Medical Certificate
Candidates must submit a medical certificate including personal medical history with information on serious injuries or illnesses, and confirmation of the ability to withstand greater psychophysical strain. The certificate must be issued after May 1 of the current year and can be issued by a family or general practitioner. If deemed necessary, a specialist’s opinion must also be provided.
Graduate Study
Admission Requirements
Applicants may enroll in the second-cycle study program Dance Studies if they:
- have completed a first-cycle study program in dance and choreography (minimum 180 ECTS),
- have completed a pre-Bologna professional or university study program in dance and choreography,
- have completed an equivalent study program in another field.
Applicants without a background in dance must submit proof of non-formal education and experience in the field (artistic or competition portfolio). Based on the portfolio and interview, the committee evaluates eligibility or determines additional knowledge requirements.
Bridging (Differential) Exams
Candidates from other fields may be required to complete bridging exams (10–60 ECTS) before enrollment or in the first semester, as determined by the Study Affairs Committee.
Specific Requirements by Specialization
A) Dance Pedagogy Candidates must demonstrate prior knowledge or pass exams in:
- learning psychology,
- pedagogy and didactics,
- safe dance teaching practices,
- methodology of teaching dance in the chosen field.
B) Contemporary Choreographic Practices Candidates must demonstrate prior knowledge or pass exams in:
- composition methods,
- dance technique of the chosen field,
- choreographic process,
- history and theory of dance theatre.
C) Theory of Dance Arts Candidates must demonstrate prior knowledge or pass exams in:
- history of dance and theory of dance theatre.
Application Procedure
Applications are submitted via the eVŠ portal:
Applicants can apply using a digital identity (digital certificate, AAI, or smsPASS) or a username and password created upon registration.

The application process consists of the following steps:
- selection of the call for applications and type of application,
- entry of personal and residence data,
- entry of secondary education data,
- verification of any higher education records,
- selection of desired study program,
- submission of attachments and final electronic submission.
After successful submission, applicants receive confirmation by email. If no confirmation is received, the application has not been submitted successfully.
Special Notes
If a candidate selects a public higher education institution as their first choice, private institutions cannot be selected as additional options.

Enrolment
Enrollment is conducted entirely electronically.
You will complete the enrollment through the Higher Education Information System (VIS) using the username and password provided in your enrollment invitation sent to your email.

Supporting documents
In admission procedures, all required supporting documents must be submitted electronically via the eVŠ portal. As proof of meeting the admission requirements, scanned documents or photographs of original certificates and other required documents are accepted. Instructions for submitting supporting documents are available at: https://portal.evs.gov.si/navodila-za-oddajo.
Proof of completed secondary education does not need to be attached to the eVŠ application, as the data is obtained via the National Examinations Centre (RIC), except in cases where the candidate completed secondary education with a final examination or abroad.
All applicants to the undergraduate study program Dance, Choreography must also submit a medical certificate including personal medical history, indicating any serious injuries or illnesses and the ability to withstand greater psychophysical strain. The certificate must be issued after May 1 of the current year and may be issued by a family/general practitioner. If required, a specialist’s opinion must also be provided. Any costs related to the medical examination are covered by the candidate.
For the undergraduate study program Dance, Choreography, an audition must also be completed prior to enrollment (except for the Ballet track, where only an interview is conducted).
For admission to the master’s study program, candidates must upload appropriate proof of meeting the admission requirements to the eVŠ application – specifically the diploma certificate and, optionally, the Diploma Supplement.
Enrollment procedure
Admitted candidates will receive an invitation to enroll at the email address provided in the application, immediately after the admission procedure is completed. Enrollment at Alma Mater is conducted entirely online.
You will complete the enrollment from home via the Higher Education Information System (VIS) using the username and password provided in your enrollment invitation.
Steps required for enrollment
- Complete and sign the Enrollment Form.
- Sign the agreement on mutual rights and obligations.
- Upload a recent photo (3.5 × 4.5 cm, passport-style) in JPG format.
Before starting the enrollment process, make sure you have the following documents saved on your computer in JPG/JPEG or PDF format:
- proof of tuition payment (full amount or first installment, as specified in the contract),
- proof of payment of the enrollment fee (€150),
- confirmed medical certificate of the completed medical examination,
- any missing documents listed in the application.
Once the agreement and enrollment form are electronically signed and all required documents are uploaded to VIS, the Student Office will complete the enrollment within 5 working days.

Payment information
Invoices for tuition and the enrollment fee will be sent to the email address provided in the enrollment form within two working days after submitting the form.
When completing the payment order, enter:
- Reference: SI00 + your enrollment number (found in the Enrollment Form and Invitation to Enroll)
The tuition (first installment) and enrollment fee may be paid using a single payment order by combining the amounts.
Cash payments are not accepted at Alma Mater. All payments must be made via bank transfer.

Installment payments
Tuition fees can be paid in 1, 2, 5, or 8 installments. In the case of installment payments, an additional administrative fee of €20 is charged per installment.
Companies
- If a company covers the tuition fees, the student must complete the Payer’s Statement. The form includes basic information about the payer, the student, the study program, and specifies the amount and method of payment.
- After submitting the form electronically, the student must print it, obtain the company’s signature and stamp, and then send the signed document to the relevant student office by email.
- Based on complete documentation, the student office issues an invoice to the company.
- As a rule, the company settles the annual tuition fee upon enrollment in the respective year.
- Upon prior agreement, payment in installments may also be arranged.
SCHOLARSHIPS (2026/27)
Alma Mater Europaea announces a call for applications for scholarships or subsidised tuition fees for the academic year 2026/27.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants are eligible for a scholarship or subsidised tuition if they:
- have submitted an eVŠ application and provided all required supporting documents for admission,
- have permanent residence in:
- the Republic of Slovenia, or
- one of the following Western Balkan countries:
Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, or Serbia.
Scholarship Amount
The amount of the scholarship depends on the enrolled study program and may be:
- up to €1,600 per academic year for the undergraduate study program Dance, Choreography.
The scholarship is granted for the entire duration of studies, provided that the student progresses regularly to the next year.
Note: In the case of specific programme partnerships, Alma Mater Europaea reserves the right to exceptionally grant scholarships to candidates from other countries.

Securing a Scholarship Before Enrollment
Applicants may secure their scholarship entitlement prior to official enrollment by paying a deposit of €1,000.
This deposit:
- serves as confirmation of serious intent to enroll,
- reserves a place in the selected study program.
The paid deposit will be deducted from the first installment of annual tuition fees, as specified in the official enrollment invitation.
If the applicant decides not to enroll, €950 will be refunded.
