Vision

The Dance Academy aspires to become a leading and internationally recognized center of excellence in higher education in the fields of dance art, dance education, choreography, dance pedagogy, and artistic and interdisciplinary research, while strengthening its role in the regional and European higher education area in the long term.

The Academy seeks to become a key connecting institution within the higher education dance sector, bringing together diverse dance genres, artistic creation, pedagogy, research, and professional practice. By fostering inter-genre collaboration, interdisciplinarity, and internationalization, it aims to contribute to the development of contemporary artistic and educational practices. Particular attention will be devoted to strengthening the connections between dance, gerontology, and physiotherapy, thereby enhancing the role of dance in promoting health, well-being, and quality ageing.

The Dance Academy will provide its students with high-quality artistic and academic education, equipping them for creative, critical, research-oriented, ethical, and responsible professional practice, as well as for lifelong personal and professional development in national and international environments.
Through its expertise, artistic excellence, and social responsibility, the Dance Academy will actively contribute to the future development of dance art and culture in Slovenia and internationally.

Mission

The Dance Academy is a higher education institution in the arts that advances dance through education, artistic creation, research, and the transfer of knowledge. It educates creative, critically minded, and socially responsible artists, educators, and researchers.

The Academy provides its students with a stimulating academic and artistic environment in which they develop artistic excellence as well as pedagogical and research competencies in close connection with professional practice.

By bringing together diverse dance genres, artistic practices, and disciplines, it promotes inter-genre, interdisciplinary, and international collaboration. It also connects knowledge in the field of dance with pedagogy, the humanities, gerontology, physiotherapy, and other disciplines related to the body, health, and society, thereby recognizing the therapeutic and well-being potential of dance.

Through its activities, the Dance Academy contributes to the professionalization of the dance sector and to the sustainable development of the cultural and social environment in Slovenia and internationally.
