Foundation and operation
The Dance Academy is an independent higher education institution, accredited by the Council for Higher Education on 9 June 2008 and entered into the court register on 17 September 2008.
Institution history
The Dance, Choreography study programme (specialisations: Contemporary Dance, Competitive Ballroom & Latin, Social Dance, Jazz) was accredited by the Council for Higher Education on 18 December 2009. The institution and the programme were entered into the register of higher education institutions on 30 September 2010. The programme started in the 2010/11 academic year. In 2016 the programme was extended to include the Ballet and Hip-Hop specialisations. With the 2022/23 academic year, the renewed curriculum has been in force on the Dance, Choreography programme in the Ballet, Contemporary Dance and Urban Dance specialisations.
Vision
To become the region’s leading arts academy, with an emphasis on cross-genre connection, interdisciplinary practice and placing dance art within the broadest spheres of cultural and social life. A key connecting artistic institution offering students knowledge applicable also in related artistic and educational fields.
Mission
Providing top-quality knowledge in the field of dance, pedagogy and the creative-choreographic process. The development of a unique European higher education programme intertwining knowledge, experience, innovation and creativity in pedagogical-dance, cultural and artistic spheres. The mission of the Academy is the education of dance artists who shape culture and society with their work.

The highest professional body; 8 members (6 higher-education lecturers / academic staff + 2 students), with the Dean as a member ex officio.
