Enrolment at the Dance Academy
To help you transition smoothly into student life, we encourage you to enrol early. If you have any questions about admission requirements or the application process, please contact the Administration Office. You can send us your application for enrolment at any time, even without the full documentation. The office will inform you about any missing or incomplete documents needed to complete the admission process.
Who can enrol
Undergraduate studies – Dance, Choreography
The undergraduate study programme Dance, Choreography is open to candidates who meet the following requirements:
- a passed general or vocational matura, or any 4-year secondary-school programme completed before 1 June 1995;
- a passed audition;
- proof of completed secondary-school education does not need to be submitted with the application, unless your education was completed with a final examination or abroad;
- submit a health certificate with personal medical records showing any serious injuries or illnesses and the capacity for greater psychophysical workloads. The health certificate must be issued after 1 May of the current year and can be issued by a family or general practitioner. If the doctor considers a specialist’s opinion necessary, that opinion must be attached as well.
Graduate Master's – Studies in Dance Arts
The second-cycle Bologna programmes Studies in Dance Arts are open to candidates who meet one of the following requirements:
- completion of a first-cycle study programme in the field of dance and choreography with at least 180 ECTS credits (Bologna programme);
- completion of an earlier study programme leading to a higher professional or university degree in the field of dance and choreography (pre-Bologna programme);
- completion of equivalent study programmes listed above in other professional fields.
If the candidate has not completed an undergraduate study programme in dance, they must document their non-formal education and knowledge of the dance field (artistic or competition portfolio). On the basis of the portfolio and an interview, the Committee will judge whether the candidate meets the admission requirements for the Master’s programme or which specific competences must still be acquired to continue studies at the second cycle.
If previous education was completed in another field, the Study Affairs Committee will set bridging examinations between 10 and 60 ECTS that the candidate must complete prior to enrolment or during the first semester of the first year.
Candidates applying to the Dance Pedagogy programme must demonstrate prior knowledge or pass bridging examinations in:
- psychology of learning,
- pedagogy and didactics,
- safe practice in teaching dance, and
- teaching methodology of the relevant dance genre.
Candidates applying to the Contemporary Choreographic Practices programme must demonstrate prior knowledge or pass bridging examinations in:
- compositional methods,
- dance techniques of specific genres,
- choreographic processes,
- history and theory of dance theatre.
Candidates applying to the Theories of Dance Arts programme must demonstrate prior knowledge or pass bridging examinations in:
- history of dance and theory of dance theatre.
How the application works
In the Republic of Slovenia, study is organised at public and private higher-education institutions (universities, faculties, art academies and higher professional schools). Regardless of whether you study at a public or private institution, the application process starts via the eVŠ portal. Candidates submit their application electronically on the eVŠ portal during open application periods.
The application has several steps. Step one is choosing the call and the type of application; step two is entering personal data, permanent address, notification address and KLASIUS-SRV; step three is entering your secondary-school education; step four is verifying any prior higher-education data; step five is choosing the desired programme; step six is uploading any attachments; the final step is to preview and electronically submit the application.
Applications are made via portal.evs.gov.si/prijava. If you choose a state faculty first, you will not be offered independent higher-education institutions in second or third place. Applying to the Dance Academy therefore requires a separate application in which you select Private Higher-Education Institution first. The application is informative only; it becomes binding only at enrolment.

Education and programme choice
Next, verify your existing secondary-school and higher-education data, and enter your desired programme at the Dance Academy.
Attachments and submission
Upload any attachments (health certificate, supporting documents), then preview and submit the application electronically.
Audition and enrolment
Before completing enrolment you take an audition (except the Ballet programme, where only an interview is held). On acceptance you will receive an invitation to enrol by email.
Deadlines for the 2025/26 academic year
18 February 2025 – 13 July 2025
Selection results will be available by 18 July 2025 at the latest. You will receive the decision via eVŠ. If accepted to your desired programme, you will also receive an invitation to enrol by email. Enrolment of accepted candidates in the first round will take place from 21 July to 3 August 2025.
21 July – 15 September 2025
The selection process will be completed by 19 September 2025. You will receive the decision via eVŠ. If accepted, you will receive an invitation to enrol by email. Enrolment of accepted candidates in the second round will take place from 20 September to 30 September 2025 at the latest.
16 – 30 September 2025
The selection process will be completed by 30 September 2025. You will receive the decision via eVŠ. If accepted, you will receive an invitation to enrol by email. Enrolment of accepted candidates in the third round must be completed by 30 September 2025.
Enrolment will take place exclusively online.
What to attach to your application
In the application and admission process, candidates submit all required documents electronically via the eVŠ portal. Scanned documents or photographs of original certificates and other required documents serve as evidence of meeting the admission requirements. Instructions for submitting evidence are available at portal.evs.gov.si/navodila-za-oddajo. You do not need to attach proof of completed secondary education to the eVŠ application — we obtain this data via RIC — except where the candidate completed secondary education with a final examination or abroad.
All candidates for the undergraduate programme Dance, Choreography must also submit a health certificate with personal medical records showing any serious injuries or illnesses and the capacity for greater psychophysical workloads. The certificate must be issued after 1 May of the current year and can be issued by a family or general practitioner. If a specialist’s opinion is required, it must also be attached. Any costs of the medical examination are borne by the candidates.
For the undergraduate programme Dance, Choreography, an audition must be taken before enrolment (except the Ballet programme, where only an interview is held).
For enrolment in the Master’s programme, the eVŠ application must include suitable evidence of meeting the admission requirements — the degree certificate and, optionally, the Diploma Supplement.
How enrolment is completed
To complete enrolment you will need to:
- fill in and sign the Enrolment Form;
- sign the Agreement on Mutual Rights and Obligations;
- upload a recent photograph sized 3.5 × 4.5 cm (as for an ID document) in jpg format, scanned, saved to your computer and then uploaded in VIS when completing the Enrolment Form.
Before completing enrolment, please also have the following documents saved on your computer in jpg/jpeg or pdf format:
- proof of tuition payment (full tuition or the 1st instalment as stated in Article 5 of the Agreement);
- proof of enrolment-fee payment (EUR 150.00);
- any missing documents listed in your application for enrolment.
Once the Agreement and Enrolment Form have been signed electronically and the remaining enrolment documentation has been uploaded to VIS, the Administration Office will complete enrolment within 5 working days. The student will be notified of successful enrolment by email. The signed Agreement on Mutual Rights and Obligations, the student record book and the option to print an official Confirmation of Enrolment will then be visible in VIS.
Payment details: the invoice(s) for tuition and the enrolment fee will be sent to the email address you provided on the Enrolment Form, within one working day of electronic submission. On the UPN payment order, enter SI00 plus your enrolment number as the reference — you will find it on the Enrolment Form and in the Invitation to Enrol. The first tuition instalment and the enrolment fee can be paid via the same payment order by combining the amounts. If tuition is paid by a company, please include the payer’s statement (Izjava plačnika) found on the Alma Mater website.
Alma Mater does not accept cash payments; all transfers are made via bank account.
Tuition payment by instalments
If tuition is paid in a single instalment, the amount is due at enrolment.
The first instalment is due at enrolment, the second on 10 February.

1st instalment at enrolment; then 10 November, 10 December, 10 January, 10 February, 10 March, 10 April and 10 May.
EUR 150.00 — on the UPN payment order, enter SI00 plus your enrolment number as the reference (it is on the Enrolment Form and in the Invitation to Enrol). The first tuition instalment and the enrolment fee can be combined on the same payment order. IBAN SI56 0400 0028 1250 956.
