About the programme
The three-year undergraduate programme in jazz dance offers a broad range of theoretical and practical knowledge in jazz and related disciplines. It is oriented towards developing a versatile dance artist with a refined technical foundation, able to build on that knowledge and apply it confidently in pursuing their own goals.
During their studies students encounter different jazz styles — classical, modern and lyrical jazz — and expand their skills through ballet, physical preparation, musical theatre, tap, contemporary dance techniques, partnering, commercial dance and other genres. Along the way they develop awareness of their own body and its capabilities, strengthen creative thinking, and explore individual and group expression through composition, the creative-research process and improvisation.
Academic breadth is complemented by theoretical subjects such as dance history, the psychology of learning, pedagogy and preventive dance medicine. Working with mentors, students regularly present their dance and choreographic work on various stages, culminating in the Dance Academy’s annual public final performance.

Nanizani niso vsi izbirni predmeti. Študenti bodo imeli možnost izbire predmetov tudi iz drugih študijskih smeri ter izbirnimi predmeti drugih študijskih programov v okviru Alma Mater, omogočeno pa je tudi opravljanje izbirnih predmetov na drugih fakultetah (zunanja izbirnost). Izbirni predmeti se ponudijo v skladu z izvedbenim predmetnikom.
Izbirni predmeti se izvedejo, v kolikor si predmet izbere vsaj 5 študentov.

In the 2022/23 academic year a new curriculum was adopted for the higher education study programme Dance, Choreography in the fields of Ballet, Contemporary Dance and Urban Dance. Students who enrolled in a field in previous academic years may complete the old programme until the 2024/25 academic year. After that date all students must complete their studies under the new programme. In the event that studies continue after 2024/25, the Committee for Study Affairs is responsible for aligning students’ records and determining any additional requirements.
