Ballet
About the programme
The ballet programme is aimed primarily at ballet teachers. Until now, ballet has been the only branch of the arts in which ballet teachers were not required to hold a higher education degree. As this gap in knowledge has proved harmful for children, changes in this area can be expected in the future.
Alongside the methodology of classical ballet and of style and character dances, the programme provides the professional and practical knowledge required in physical preparation of the dancer, preventive medicine, physiology, psychology and pedagogy, acting and music, choreology and dance history, organisation and management in culture, stage, audio and video technology, and other contextual fields.

Nanizani niso vsi izbirni predmeti. Študenti bodo imeli možnost izbire predmetov tudi iz drugih študijskih smeri ter izbirnimi predmeti drugih študijskih programov v okviru Alma Mater, omogočeno pa je tudi opravljanje izbirnih predmetov na drugih fakultetah (zunanja izbirnost). Izbirni predmeti se ponudijo v skladu z izvedbenim predmetnikom.
Izbirni predmeti se izvedejo, v kolikor si predmet izbere vsaj 5 študentov.

In the 2022/23 academic year a new curriculum was adopted for the higher education study programme Dance, Choreography in the fields of Ballet, Contemporary Dance and Urban Dance. Students who enrolled in a field in previous academic years may complete the old programme until the 2024/25 academic year. After that date all students must complete their studies under the new programme. In the event that studies continue after 2024/25, the Committee for Study Affairs is responsible for aligning students’ records and determining any additional requirements.
Specifics of the Ballet programme
There is no audition for the Ballet programme.
Candidates must submit proof of successfully completed ballet high school or appropriate ballet education, on which the Committee decides. At admission, candidates do not perform a practical dance/choreography part of the examination. The Committee will assess psychophysical abilities and potential for ballet studies based on submitted documentation and an interview.
Enrolment is open to current and former dancers/pedagogues and choreographers, as well as to young people after completing ballet school who wish to obtain a higher-education degree in ballet.
How do you enrol in Ballet?
There is no audition for the Ballet programme. Candidates submit proof of a completed secondary ballet school or equivalent ballet education, and the committee decides on the basis of the documentation and an interview. Deadlines, requirements and the application procedure are on the Enrolment page.
