About the programme
The contemporary dance programme offers a comprehensive education that combines advanced technical training, creative research and critical thinking about art. Through contemporary dance techniques, ballet, improvisation and courses such as composition and the creative process, students develop their own choreographic voice. The programme also covers a range of genres — jazz, tap, flamenco and musical theatre — as well as dance film. Theoretical subjects (dance history, pedagogy, psychology, stage technologies) give students a broader artistic and social context, while anatomy and preventive dance medicine support their practical work.
Elective courses introduce further challenges such as acrobatics, circus, cultural management and classical acting. The programme shapes versatile dance artists who perform and create throughout their studies, conclude with an independent performance, and are prepared for further education or a professional artistic career.

Nanizani niso vsi izbirni predmeti. Študenti bodo imeli možnost izbire predmetov tudi iz drugih študijskih smeri ter izbirnimi predmeti drugih študijskih programov v okviru Alma Mater, omogočeno pa je tudi opravljanje izbirnih predmetov na drugih fakultetah (zunanja izbirnost). Izbirni predmeti se ponudijo v skladu z izvedbenim predmetnikom.
Izbirni predmeti se izvedejo, v kolikor si predmet izbere vsaj 5 študentov.

In the 2022/23 academic year a new curriculum was adopted for the higher education study programme Dance, Choreography in the fields of Ballet, Contemporary Dance and Urban Dance. Students who enrolled in a field in previous academic years may complete the old programme until the 2024/25 academic year. After that date all students must complete their studies under the new programme. In the event that studies continue after 2024/25, the Committee for Study Affairs is responsible for aligning students’ records and determining any additional requirements.
