A message from the Dean of the Dance Academy, organiser and moderator of the dance section
For the third time, Alma Mater Europaea Dance Academy had its own dance section within the All About People conference. In view of the covid-19 situation and life in physical isolation, we decided to address the post-postmodern paradigm of digimodernism and to name our section Dance and dance education in the digital environment: All the world’s a stage, after Shakespeare’s famous line — for dance and dance education had moved from the usual dance venues into the digital environment.
In the first part of the conference we hosted three distinguished guests: Tarek Assam, the German-Egyptian ballet director and head of ballet in Giessen, Darrel Toulon from Dominica, dancer, choreographer, founder and artistic director of the Alpha company and lecturer at the private Anton Bruckner University in Linz, and Dr Risima Risimkin from North Macedonia, one of the leading Macedonian choreographers and artistic director of the Dance Fest Skopje festival and of the Skopje Dance Theatre. They discussed dance and dance education in the new circumstances. In the second part we continued with presentations of contributions and discussed dance film from various discourses. The third and fourth parts of the conference continued with contributions on dance education in the new environment, and the final part with contributions on various themes connected to the main conference topic.
Alongside me, the hosts were Assistant Professors Rosana Hribar and Dr Andreja Kopač. We had 80 participants, 21 of whom presented their contributions. The official languages of the conference were Slovenian, English, Croatian and Serbian. All abstracts are published in the Book of Abstracts (ISBN 978-961-6966-74-0 and COBISS.SI-ID 54791427) on the Alma Mater Europaea website.
This proceedings volume contains 12 peer-reviewed contributions representing the main themes of the conference.
