Both components are publicly presented and defended before an examination committee.<\/p><p>For the Ballet study track, the thesis may be prepared either:<\/p><ul><li>in a practical and written format, or<\/li><li>in an exclusively written format.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ce9bd8e e-con-full data-id=\"t24bac6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Students choose the topic of their thesis in consultation with their supervisor.<\/p><p>The topic may:<\/p><ul><li>be selected from proposals published in VIS,<\/li><li>be proposed by the student,<\/li><li>originate from a company, institution, or another external organisation.<\/li><\/ul><p>Approved thesis topics are available in VIS:<\/p><p><strong>Documents \u2192 Other Documents \u2192 Graduation and Master&#8217;s Thesis \u2013 Dance Academy<\/strong><\/p><p>Students may:<\/p><ul><li>select one of the published topics;<\/li><li>propose their own topic;<\/li><li>develop a topic suggested by an organisation or external partner.<\/li><\/ul><h3>Appointment of a Supervisor<\/h3><p>Students are generally responsible for obtaining a supervisor independently.<\/p><p>When registering the thesis proposal, the student&#8217;s supervisor must provide formal consent.<\/p><p>If a student cannot obtain a supervisor independently, they may submit a request to the Committee for Academic Affairs (CAA) for the appointment of a supervisor.<\/p><p>The supervisor of a bachelor&#8217;s thesis must be a qualified higher education teacher in the field covered by the thesis.<\/p><p>The supervisor of a master&#8217;s thesis must hold the academic title of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor and possess appropriate research achievements in the relevant field.<\/p><p>The supervisor:<\/p><ul><li>guides the student in preparing the thesis proposal;<\/li><li>provides methodological guidance;<\/li><li>supervises preparation of the written thesis;<\/li><li>for artistic programmes, also supervises preparation and execution of the graduation performance;<\/li><li>ensures the academic quality of the thesis.<\/li><\/ul><p>The supervisor normally provides feedback on the thesis proposal or thesis within 15 days. A repeated review normally takes place within 30 days.<\/p><p>A supervisor, co-supervisor, or workplace co-supervisor may not be related to the student or have any relationship that could result in a conflict of interest.<\/p><h3>Co-supervisor and Workplace Co-supervisor<\/h3><p>A co-supervisor may be appointed for interdisciplinary topics.<\/p><p>If the supervisor is not a member of the academic staff of the Dance Academy, a co-supervisor who is a member of the academic staff of the Dance Academy may also be appointed.<\/p><p>Students may additionally propose a workplace co-supervisor from a company, institution, or another organisation when part of the research or creative process is connected to that organisation. Workplace co-supervision must be justified in the thesis proposal application.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-cbb1a2d e-con-full thesis proposal submission<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-t57c685 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"t57c685\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>A student may register a bachelor&#8217;s thesis proposal when:<\/p><ul><li>all first- and second-year study obligations amounting to 120 ECTS credits have been completed;<\/li><li>no more than four third-year study obligations remain outstanding.<\/li><\/ul><p>Second-cycle students may register a master&#8217;s thesis proposal when they have no more than 60 ECTS credits remaining.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element data-id=\"tc4f996\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Students prepare their proposal using the valid template available in VIS:<\/p><p><strong>Documents \u2192 Other Documents \u2192 Graduation and Master&#8217;s Thesis \u2013 Dance Academy<\/strong><\/p><p>Before submission, the proposal must be harmonised with the prospective supervisor and any co-supervisor or workplace co-supervisor.<\/p><p>The proposal normally includes:<\/p><ul><li>working title of the thesis;<\/li><li>activities required for completion of the thesis;<\/li><li>description of the research problem;<\/li><li>purpose and objectives;<\/li><li>research questions and\/or hypotheses;<\/li><li>methodology;<\/li><li>proposed structure of the thesis;<\/li><li>list of literature and sources.<\/li><\/ul><p>The bibliography must include at least 20 references.<\/p><p>More than one quarter of the references must be foreign sources and more than half must be less than ten years old.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c98ead0 e-con-full ams-card of the thesis<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-t680f66 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"t680f66\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>Contemporary Dance, Jazz, Urban Dance, Competitive Dance and Ballroom Dance<\/h3><p>The thesis consists of:<\/p><ul><li>a graduation performance;<\/li><li>a written thesis.<\/li><\/ul><p>The graduation performance may include:<\/p><ul><li>a solo performance;<\/li><li>a duet, trio, quartet, or another group format;<\/li><li>participation in the role of choreographer and\/or performer.<\/li><\/ul><p>The graduation performance normally lasts approximately 20 minutes.<\/p><p>The following may participate:<\/p><ul><li>third-year Dance Academy students;<\/li><li>second-year students with the supervisor&#8217;s approval;<\/li><li>external collaborators with the approval of the supervisor and the management of the Dance Academy.<\/li><\/ul><p>The performance may also be staged outside the premises of the Dance Academy subject to prior approval from the Academy&#8217;s management.<\/p><h3>Ballet<\/h3><p>The thesis may be prepared:<\/p><ul><li>in a practical and written format;<\/li><li>in an exclusively written format.<\/li><\/ul><p>The practical component may consist of:<\/p><ul><li>teaching a ballet or dance class\/workshop;<\/li><li>practical presentation of research;<\/li><li>a lecture accompanied by a practical demonstration or audiovisual support.<\/li><\/ul><p>The practical component normally lasts approximately 20 minutes.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c02069f e-con-full ams-card ams-card--section e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"c02069f\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\" id=\"submission-of-the-thesis-proposal-in-vis\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Students submit their proposal through:<\/p><p><strong>Completion of Studies \u2192 Topic Submission<\/strong><\/p><p>The proposal submission includes:<\/p><ul><li>thesis proposal;<\/li><li>supervisor&#8217;s consent;<\/li><li>consent of any co-supervisor or workplace co-supervisor;<\/li><li>any additional supporting documentation.<\/li><\/ul><p>Supervisors may provide approval directly in VIS.<\/p><p>Where this is not possible, students print Form O1 \u2013 Final Thesis Proposal Application, obtain the required signatures, and submit the signed form to the Office for Academic Affairs.<\/p><p>Without the supervisor&#8217;s consent, the Committee for Academic Affairs will not review the proposal.<\/p><p>The Committee may:<\/p><ul><li>approve the proposal;<\/li><li>return it for revision;<\/li><li>reject it.<\/li><\/ul><p>The Committee may additionally:<\/p><ul><li>appoint another supervisor;<\/li><li>appoint a co-supervisor;<\/li><li>request additional clarification or amendments.<\/li><\/ul><p>If revisions are required, the student must submit a corrected version. Upon a third unsuccessful revision, the proposal is rejected.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c069e1d e-con-full ams-card thesis proposal<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-t2df3e2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"t2df3e2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>An approved bachelor&#8217;s thesis proposal remains valid for\u00a0twelve months\u00a0from the date of approval by the Committee for Academic Affairs.<\/p><p>The thesis must be submitted and prepared for defence within this period.<\/p><p>If students cannot complete the thesis within this period, they must submit a request through VIS no later than one month before expiry:<\/p><p><strong>Extension of Final Thesis Proposal Validity<\/strong><\/p><p>The Committee determines whether an extension will be granted and its duration.<\/p><p>If the student neither submits the thesis nor requests an extension, the topic and supervisor are considered withdrawn.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c197920 e-con-full ams-card ams-card--section e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"c197920\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Through VIS students may submit:<\/p><ul><li>a request to extend the validity of the proposal;<\/li><li>a request to replace the supervisor;<\/li><li>a request to change the thesis title or topic.<\/li><\/ul><p>If a topic change is approved, a new proposal must be submitted and the procedure begins again.<\/p><p>Students may normally request withdrawal from an approved topic only once.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c508a76 e-con-full ams-card data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The written thesis is prepared under the guidance of the supervisor and in accordance with the Alma Mater formatting guidelines.<\/p><p>The written bachelor&#8217;s thesis normally consists of\u00a035\u201350 pages\u00a0of A4 text, excluding preliminary pages, bibliography, and appendices.<\/p><p>The thesis must demonstrate:<\/p><ul><li>knowledge of theoretical concepts within the discipline;<\/li><li>familiarity with the selected field of research;<\/li><li>ability to conduct independent research;<\/li><li>appropriate methodological application;<\/li><li>critical analysis and interpretation of results.<\/li><\/ul><p>The thesis may follow:<\/p><ul><li>an artistic-research model; or<\/li><li>an empirical-research model.<\/li><\/ul><p>Master&#8217;s theses normally comprise\u00a060\u201380 pages.<\/p><p>The thesis may be written For the Ballet study track, it takes place immediately after the teaching session or presentation of the practical component. In this way, the Committee assesses the diploma thesis as a unified whole consisting of both the artistic or pedagogical component and the written component.<\/p><p>If a Ballet student prepares the diploma thesis exclusively in written form, the student presents the research project and key findings during the defence.<\/p><p>Before the defence begins, the Committee meets in a closed session to verify that all requirements for the defence have been fulfilled.<\/p><h3>Defence Procedure<\/h3><p>The defence is chaired by the Chair of the Committee, who:<\/p><ul><li>introduces the student and Committee members;<\/li><li>verifies that all graduation requirements have been fulfilled;<\/li><li>presents the topic of the diploma thesis and explains the defence procedure.<\/li><\/ul><p>The student then presents the diploma thesis. The presentation normally lasts up to 15 minutes and may include the use of audiovisual materials.<\/p><p>Following the presentation, the mentor provides a brief professional opinion of the diploma thesis. Committee members then ask questions related to the thesis, the artistic or pedagogical process, and the research findings.<\/p><p>After the defence, the Committee meets in a closed session to assess the diploma thesis and the defence and to determine the final grade.<\/p><p>In exceptional cases, the defence may also be conducted remotely using technology that enables audio and video communication.<\/p><p>Minutes are taken throughout the defence, recording the proceedings, questions raised by the Committee members, and the Committee\u2019s final consists of:<\/p><ul><li>40% written thesis;<\/li><li>40% teaching session or practical component;<\/li><li>20% oral defence.<\/li><\/ul><h3>Ballet (Written-Only Format)<\/h3><p>The final grade consists of:<\/p><ul><li>80% written thesis;<\/li><li>20% oral defence.<\/li><\/ul><p>When assessing the diploma thesis, the Committee primarily considers:<\/p><ul><li>the quality of the written thesis;<\/li><li>the quality of the artistic or pedagogical component;<\/li><li>the integration of the practical and theoretical components;<\/li><li>the originality and creative contribution of the student;<\/li><li>the complexity of the topic;<\/li><li>the quality of the presentation;<\/li><li>the quality of the answers provided during the defence.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c530b4f e-con-full ams-card ams-card--section e-flex e-con e-child\" require the student to revise or supplement the diploma thesis.<\/p><p>The required corrections are recorded in the defence minutes.<\/p><p>The student must submit the corrected electronic version of the diploma thesis within 30 days after the defence.<\/p><p>The Chair of the Committee reviews the corrections and confirms whether they have been adequately completed.<\/p><p>If the corrected version is not submitted within the prescribed period, or if the deficiencies have not been adequately addressed, the defence is annulled and the diploma thesis is graded as Fail data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>If the diploma thesis receives a failing grade (5), the student may repeat the submission procedure with the same title and mentor, provided this is done within six months of receiving the assessment.<\/p><p>Within the same period, the student may withdraw from the diploma thesis and begin a new procedure with a new title and mentor.<\/p><p>If the diploma thesis or defence receives a failing assessment again, the procedure may be repeated once more in accordance with the applicable regulations.<\/p><p>If the student submits an unsuitable thesis proposal or diploma thesis for the third time, the Committee for Academic Affairs may propose an extraordinary termination of studies to the information.<\/li><\/ul><p>The mentor and the student must submit a written request before the diploma thesis is submitted, together with an explanation and supporting evidence.<\/p><p>The request is decided upon by the Head or Director of the study programme.<\/p><p>Restricted access may be granted for a maximum period of three years from the date of the academic records.<\/p><p>The student receives a temporary certificate of graduation, which remains valid until the official diploma is issued.<\/p><p>The date of the successful defence is considered the official date on which the professional title is obtained.<\/p><p>Upon successful completion of the study programme, the student is awarded the professional title in accordance with the applicable
